Following the recent resignation of Lee White (please see Casual Vacancy Notice below), Wivelsfield Parish Council currently has four vacancies for new councillors. If you would like to help develop, improve and protect your local community for the future, why not join the Parish Council?
To be eligible you must be:
- A British, Commonwealth, Irish or European Union citizen
- At least 18 years old
- Either on the list of electors for the Parish, or during the whole of the previous twelve months have:
- Occupied land in the Parish as an owner or tenant
- Had a principal place of work in the Parish
- Resided in, or within three miles of the Parish
The Council meets once a month (for about two hours), with additional short meetings when required. It is responsible for managing the parish precept (budget), considering local planning applications, maintaining the recreation ground and war memorial, providing street lighting, bus shelters, dog waste/litter bins, giving grants to local community groups, progressing the Wivelsfield Neighbourhood Plan (in conjunction with the Steering Group) and representing residents views.
